My name is Michael Costa Melzer, or "MCM" for short. Being of half-Spanish descent, I grew to understand the nuances of Sherry long before any whisky ever touches an Oloroso cask. This heritage has shaped my passion for fine spirits from the very beginning.

Thomas Krüger and I have been close since 1985, when he opened his delicatessen in Hamburg. Since then, I have stood by his side as a lifelong friend and best man—and as of April 1, 2026, I am proud to officially join him as a business partner.

Before joining WhiskyAuction.com, I spent 45 years at Allianz, where my roles included claims specialist, HR trainer, and Chief Underwriter. Additionally, I have been active as a freelance lecturer for over 20 years.

As Co-Managing Partner at WhiskyAuction.com, I am responsible for commercial management, legal affairs, marketing, insurance, and customer relations. (COO/CCO/CMO)

My passion for whisky spans more than 40 years and has taken me on journeys across Scotland, Ireland, Japan, the USA, and Canada. I truly enjoy connecting with fellow enthusiasts worldwide, though my favorite way to enjoy a dram is in the company of friends. I wish you great pleasure in discovering, savoring, and sharing exceptional whiskies—there is hardly anything finer.
